Privacy Policy
Hulu Monde runs on curiosity — about places, people, and the stories that connect them. Running it also requires data. Here is exactly what we collect, why, and what you can do about it.
—
What We Collect
When you interact with hulutravel.com, two categories of information come our way.
Information you give us directly:
- Name and email address when you sign up for a newsletter or submit a tip
- Any message content you send via our contact address
- Any other details you voluntarily include in a form or inquiry
Information collected automatically:
- IP address and general location inferred from it
- Device type, operating system, and browser
- Pages viewed, time on page, referring URL, and clicks
- Date and time of each visit
We collect automatic data through our own systems and through third-party tools described below. You do not have to give us your name to read the site — but the automatic data flows regardless.
—
Cookies & Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar identifiers (pixels, local storage). They fall into three categories.
Strictly necessary: These keep the site functional. They do not track you for advertising and cannot be switched off without breaking things.
Analytics: These count visits, measure how content performs, and tell us which destinations readers actually care about. The data is aggregated. Disabling these does not affect your reading experience.
Advertising: These are placed by our ad partners to serve and measure ads — including personalized, interest-based ads. They can track your activity across sites and over time. This is the category with the most significant privacy implications, and it is covered in detail in the next section.
You can manage cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block or delete them; some support the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal, which we recognize as an opt-out request for sale and sharing of personal data.

Advertising & Third Parties
Hulu Monde is supported by advertising revenue. Ads and sponsored content appear throughout the site — that is how we keep the lights on.
To make that work, third-party advertising partners, ad networks, supply-side platforms (SSPs), and measurement vendors operate on this site. These partners:
- Set their own cookies and use device identifiers
- Serve ads tailored to your browsing interests across the web
- Measure ad performance, including whether you saw or clicked an ad
- May combine data from this site with data from other sources
This activity constitutes the sale and/or sharing of personal information as defined under California law (CCPA/CPRA) and similar US state privacy statutes. We do not control these third parties' data practices — their own privacy policies govern what they do with the data they collect.
How to opt out:
- Use your browser's cookie settings to block third-party cookies
- Enable Global Privacy Control (GPC) in a supported browser — we treat this as a valid opt-out signal
- Use the industry opt-out tools at optout.aboutads.info (DAA) or youronlinechoices.com (EDAA, primarily EU/UK)
- Email hello@hulutravel.com with the subject line "Opt Out — Ad Targeting" and we will process your request
Note that opting out of personalized ads does not mean you will see no ads — it means the ads you see will be less targeted.
—
Your Rights & How to Exercise Them
EEA and UK readers (GDPR/UK GDPR): You have the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data. You can object to processing or ask us to restrict it. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@hulutravel.com.
US readers — California and other state privacy laws (CCPA/CPRA and equivalents): You have the right to know what personal data we collect and how it is used, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, and — critically for this site — the right to opt out of the sale and sharing of your personal data for targeted advertising. We do not discriminate against you for exercising these rights. To make a request, email hello@hulutravel.com with enough detail for us to identify your request. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
We will not sell your directly submitted contact information (your email address, your name). The sale/sharing described above relates to advertising identifiers and behavioral data collected automatically.
—
Retention & Security
We keep contact and newsletter data for as long as the relationship is active, plus a reasonable period afterward. Automatically collected analytics data is retained per the settings of the tools we use, typically no longer than 26 months. We apply standard security measures — access controls, encrypted connections — but no system is impenetrable. If you have a security concern, contact us.
—
Children
Hulu Monde is a general-audience publication, is not directed to children under 13, and does not knowingly collect personal data from them.

Changes
If we change this policy in a material way, we will update the date below and note the change prominently. Continued use of the site after a change means you have seen the updated terms.
